Opened in 2015, Hope House is a six-bed, short-term emergency shelter for youth ages 14 –19 who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Hope House is the only youth shelter located West of Highway 100 in the Greater Twin Cities. Hope House is a safe place for all youth in crisis. We welcome youth from all backgrounds and circumstances. Skilled in trauma-informed care, staff help youth and young adults work through , secure community resources, and plan for the next step on their journey. Working one-to-one with a case manager, youth identify and develop their own strength-based plans. At Hope House, youth gain self-sufficiency and independence. Whenever possible, goals include family reconciliation and reunification. Crisis may look different to everyone. It could be living on a friend’s couch after getting kicked out, but not knowing if you're welcomed back tomorrow. It’s living in an emotionally, sexually, or physically abusive home, or being in an abusive relationship. Crisis could be a pregnant teen with no support, a loss of family housing, or a mental health concern by either the youth or parent. The bottom line is no matter the crisis, Hope House is filled with staff ready to meet youth where they are, and walk alongside them in their journey. Hope House is a partnership between 180 Degrees and the Open Hands Foundation.
